Take a boat trip on the lake in Schwerin, which is 60 km² in size and is one of the largest in Germany. A quarter of the town of Schwerin consists of lakes. Schwerin is also well known for its picturesque Schwerin Island, which is home to the magical Palace of Schwerin. This is the largest palace in northern Germany. The area is rich in further impressive palaces and castles worth visiting and there is a large number of listed monuments and various cultural and historical sights. Make the most of the surrounding region and take part in a round of golf, jogging and walking, horse riding and bathing in Lake Cambs. Explore the unspoilt nature of the area and the beautiful lakes of the Mecklenburg region. Borrow a bike from the hotel and let the friendly staff suggest routes and biking tours in the surrounding area. Groups of 10 or more can enjoy cycle trips with pleasant summer barbecue evenings, accompanied by home-made breads and grilled delicacies. The Buga Bundesgartenschau 2009 (National Garden Show) takes place in Schwerin from 23 April to 11 October in 2009. Come and take a stroll around the beautifully landscaped and cultivated gardens, which are built around Schwerin Palace and take you on a journey through the history of garden design.
